Description

By simply moving beyond some of the basic major chords, to other shapes that aren't really much more difficult to play, simple songs can take on an added dimension by adding atmosphere and tension. They can also be used to add more excitement to an ordinary song by 'playing around' the chord to give it some interesting variety.

All that's really required is to "replace" the third note of a major chord shape (or in other words, replace the thrid note of a triad).

With a Suspended 4th chord, you are essentially adding a note to a triad.

With a Suspended 2nd chord, you are doing the opposite and removing a note from the triad.
