Description

This one uses very simple chords: G, C and D.

The only difficult part is maybe the timing of how they're played, and how
quickly you have to change them. For that reason, I've used a drum machine to help explain this one.

The first MP3 is how it should sound when you're finished. The second MP3 is the same thing played slowly at almost half speed.

On the next page, the third MP3 is just the G chord played over and over again to show you an example of what the timing is like. The fourth MP3 is just the drums by themselves at regular speed, so that you can practice playing to them.

Step 1

Have a listen to the first two MP3's below and look at the full notation tab. This will give you an idea of what chords are played, how the chords are played, how the timing sounds and which direction to strum in.

The first thing you'll need to do before even starting, however, is to find the
right sound. You'll need to get a lot of distortion out of your amplifier, yet not so much that you get a lot of feedback or amp noise. When you mute the chords, you'll want to get as much silence between them as possible. For instance, when you stop playing, you don't want to hear a whole lot of amplifier hiss, or even worse, a bunch of squeeling feedback happening.

In the tab diagram above, the v symbol means to strum downwards. When you see a ^ symbol, it means to strum upwards.

The next step is to start on the first G chord and practice doing some string
muting. So let's move on to the next page and just practice playing the G chord for now.
