When the legendary guitar manufacturer Gibson Guitar Corporation needed online video guitar lessons for the Gibson.com website, they turned to GuitarTricks.com for help.
Last August we received an email from Gibson inquiring about the possibilities of working together on some collaborations. I wasn't sure what that meant, so I got on the phone and found out.
I talked to John F., Gibson U.S.A. (I'm not sure he'd want me to put his name out here, so let's just call him John F.). He was as nice a guy as you can imagine and he told me what they had in mind.
They were looking for some video lessons for their Gibson Lifestyle section of the Gibson.com website and wanted to know if we could help out. Would we create a "Guitar Tricks Lesson of the Week" to be featured on the Gibson site and their weekly newsletter?
I had always been a big fan of Gibson, and exposure on their site would be a great benefit to Guitar Tricks. So, I was pretty quick to agree.
There was one catch, however. He said we had to make all the lessons using Gibson/Epiphone brand guitars.
Well, some of our instructors have Gibson guitars, but many don't. So, I told him that might be a problem.
Well, the next thing John said really floored me. He said "that's OK, we can send you some guitars."
Imagine how much fun I had announcing that to the instructors!
As you might expect, we are very proud to to have been chosen for this role and very much enjoying the new guitars.
