Pulling, And Prebending Strings
This would be a good ending for a solo in the key of G, or it would be a good intro if you're doing a turn around. There are a lot of classic country songs that have a 1, 5, 1 turn around for an intro. This can also be used in today's country, but probably not as an intro. The bends in this are prebent, this means the string is actually bent before you play it. After playing the string, then yo...
SlideDownTap
Two handed tapping....youstart on fret 15 & tap using your index finger then pull, pull, slide...repeat. When you get down to the 5th fret, switch to the G string by tapping with your middle finger, Then tap your way back up while pulling with your left. Keep in mind that this technique requires a lot of practice so if you're new to tapping, you might want to tackle something a l...
Tap Lead with Vibrato
You begin this one by plucking and then bending a note up wards on the G string (using either a pick, your tapping finger or even your thumbnail) at the 7th fret. Bend down again, pull-off and tap-on ... almost simultaneosly with the previous tap-on, tap with y our right hand on the 12th fret. Bend this string up, pull-off and begin the process again. The left hand repeats the same sequence wi...
Octave Harmonics
Here's a great effect I use from time to time. The premise is actually pretty simple but needs a little effort to coordinate. Begin to explore the technique by fretting a note with the left hand then striking the string 12 frets up with the right hand. You can get really clever with this because if you hit the string just right you can get both the notes (original and harmonic) sounding very cool....
Descending Open String Run and Roll
With this lick you can start or finish a guitar solo in the key of D. Tempo should be medium to fast around 140 BPM such as a train beat. This shows an open string run with passing tones, using as many open strings as possible. And the finishes with a pull off lick on the D, A and E strings for a speedy, tricky sounding ending.
